Windows does a good job at providing a small preview of video files, but Video Thumbnailer can make it even better. This lightweight application brings video thumbnails to Windows Explorer. Additionally, the application will add some extra info to these thumbnails, so you will have a better idea on what footage you may find in each video.

Downloading and installing the application takes only a few seconds. It works on Windows 7 and later editions and it doesn't have any special requirements. Video Thumbnailer is offered completely free of charge, with no hidden fees or restrictions.

Installing Video Thumbnailer is all you have to do. Once the application is installed, you will be able to see video files in Windows Explorer in a different fashion. While full motion thumbnails are the main selling point, you will also find the length of your videos displayed on their thumbnails.

The application supports a wide range of video formats. What's more, it can enable the new thumbnails for formats of your choice. You can bring up a settings menu through an executable file and choose which video formats should be affected by clicking their corresponding check boxes. Additionally, you can disable the video length display, if you want to and choose a padding color for the thumbnails.

With Video Thumbnailer on your computer, thumbnails can tell you more about your video files.

Pros

The application brings video thumbnails to Windows Explorer. It lets you choose which video formats should be affected. Video Thumbnailer is lightweight and it can be installed in just a few seconds.

Cons

The application may not work in certain situations on Windows 7.
